Your Great Big Italian Wedding

Romantic Setting for Italian Weddings

by Mary M. Alward

Planning on getting married in the near future? There are literally hundreds of romantic towns, villages and natural settings in Italy for your ceremony. Whether your dream wedding includes saying your vows in a church, beside a romantic, picturesque lake, or meeting your Prince Charming or Cinderella in a medieval castle, there’s a perfect wedding location for you here.

There are parts of Italy that will capture both your heart and your imagination. Elope to romantic Venice where a gondolier will take you to the ceremony along the canals of this wonderful city in a gondola.

The medieval hill towns of Tuscany offers an ideal setting in which to experience a Renaissance wedding, or say your vows wearing skis in the Italian alps.

If you’ve always dreamed of a garden wedding, arrange to hold your wedding in the Italian Lake District at the foot of the majestic alps. The tropical, lush setting and exquisite gardens will leave you breathless.

Orta

A perfect place for a romantic wedding is Orta. The picturesque town of narrow cobblestone streets adorned with pastel houses is enchanting. The quaint town hall, decorated with frescoes, faces two town squares. Lada d’ Oratis, a sub-alpine lake is a little piece of heaven on earth, and the perfect place to pledge your love to your partner. The crystal blue water and lush pine forests make perfect backdrop for spectacular wedding photographs. Your special day will be an intoxicating experience and one that you will remember, always.

Lake Bracciano

Have you always dreamed of meeting your Prince Charming or Cinderella and being married in a castle? Well, you dream can come true.

Just an hour’s drive from Rome is a private castle that towers over Lazio Valley. Overlooking beautiful Lake Bracciano, the castle is straight out of a fairy tale, with towers, courtyards and pictorial gardens. Spectacular scenic panoramas can be seen in every direction and the grounds are flawless.

The castle has belonged to the same family for centuries and is a museum during the day. Family members ascertain that the wedding settings are their highest priority. Furnishings are original antiques. Ceilings are decorated with delightful frescoes. In the evening, the castle turns in to a magical wonderland as torches flicker filling the rooms with enchantment.

Symbolic or Protestant ceremonies are performed on site. Civil ceremonies are performed in Bracciano and Catholic services are carried out in nearby churches.

Have your reception in one of the great halls, or the secret garden, which has an astounding view. Every type of music imaginable is available and the medieval banquet and musicians give a feeling of having stepped back in time. This majestic castle that at one time entertained Popes and Princes is now available for your fairy tale wedding.

Umbria Villa

This magnificent Villa is located in the heart of Umbria near the captivating town of Montefalco. It is enveloped by a beautiful park and delightful gardens and is within walking distance of Montefalco.

The interior of the Villa is furnished with exquisite antiques. Suites and rooms look over the parks and garden and each equipped with a pink marble bathroom.

Enjoy your reception inside the Villa or outside in the fabulous gardens. Take a dip in the pool, or enjoy authentic Umbrian Cuisine and wines in the restaurant.

Protestant and symbolic ceremonies are performed at the Villa. Catholic and Civil ceremonies are available in the many towns located nearby. Activities include architecture tours, swimming, golfing and horseback riding.

If you’d like your wedding to take place in a natural setting, the Villa is a perfect place to enjoy the most special day of your life.

Positano

Positano, with its pastel houses clinging to the rugged cliffs that drop vertically to the sea is one of Italy’s most treasured places. At the top of the Positano is a unique civil wedding hall where couples can make a life-long commitment to their partner on a beautiful terrace overlooking an expanse of blue sky and the crystal clear water of the ocean below. If you desire a beach wedding, stand at the foot of Positano with the natural majestic Cathedral as a backdrop.

Receptions can be held at the elegant villa hotels or restaurants with beautiful panoramic views of the ocean, where you and your guests will partake of some of the finest cuisine in Italy. Start your honeymoon here and explore nearby Amalfi, Ravello, the Isle of Capri and several other wonderful places that lie along the Amalfi Coast.

The setting of Positano will make your wedding one of extraordinary beauty. This little town on the ocean will lure you back year after year to celebrate your anniversary in the warm sunshine surrounded by wonderful people.
