Tips for Choosing the Best Wedding Photographer

There are few things as important to the bride to be as choosing the right wedding photographer.  After all, although a wedding is a fleeting event, all that hard work over within a matter of hours, the photographs that capture the event are meant to last a lifetime.  Years after the memories of the wedding have faded, the wedding photographs will be there as a wonderful reminder of a very happy day.

With all this at stake, it is vital for every wedding planner to use the utmost care when choosing a wedding photographer.  The photography skills needed to properly capture a wedding are quite different from the skills needed to capture other events, so it is important to choose a photographer who has experience in capturing these very special events.

When evaluating potential wedding photographers, it is very important to look carefully at the portfolios those professionals have accumulated.  Any good professional photographer will have an extensive portfolio of both candid shots and portrait work, and it is important to carefully evaluate the sample photographs provided.  Wedding photographers who do not have a good portfolio of work, or those who are unwilling to provide a reasonable number of samples. Should be avoided.

After a suitable wedding photographer has been chosen, it is important to establish what kinds of shots are needed and how many pictures will be taken.   It is also important to carefully review the prices for reprints, enlargements, custom framing and any other special services.  Most wedding photographers will include a number of standard shots, like photos of the wedding party, photos of the couple’s first dance, candid shots, etc.  Asking questions well ahead of time is the best way to make sure that the wedding photographs are truly memorable and wonderful.
